I watched the much-anticipated James Bond film ‘Quantum of Solace’ recently and I have to say that on the whole I was quite disappointed. I left the cinema feeling slightly let down and ended up reminiscing about the days of Connery, Moore and Brosnan.

For me Daniel Craig just isn’t James Bond for a start. I know some people think Craig is one of the best Bonds and closely resembles Ian Fleming’s original creation, but for me I think James Bond should be tall with dark hair and a certain personality that’s been built up over previous films, but Craig just seems to lack the charisma of previous actors (both on and off the screen).

The film itself carries on where Casino Royale left off, so this is already a disadvantage for viewers who haven’t already seen this film. It also means that you need to recall what actually happened in Casino Royale which is not that easy for most of us who watched it quite a few months ago.

There’s a lot of car chases and action share more content sequences, which is traditional Bond fare, but a Bond film needs more than just a few impressive stunts. It actually needs a decent plot as well, and this is where I feel Quantum of Solace really falls down.

The plot is quite uninspiring and it’s definitely not helped by the fact that the traditional baddie is not really very threatening. The whole film is basically a disappointment. They have even got rid of the catchphrases and the handful of impressive and far-fetched gadgets which are the staple of every Bond film.

I know they’ve tried to take it in a new direction and bring Bond into the 21st century but in my opinion they’ve failed completely because it’s almost as if it’s a completely new film franchise. Even Daniel Craig bears little resemblance to the traditional Bond that we all check here know and love.

Finally there’s also the small matter of the title. Anyone who hasn’t seen the film will probably not have a clue what Quantum of Solace the sims freeplay hack Tool actually means and it certainly doesn’t draw you into the film. I know it was one that Ian Fleming himself came up with, but it still doesn’t make for a great title for what is one of the most eagerly anticipated films of the year.

Overall I thought Quantum of Solace was basically a huge let-down. I’ve recently read a newspaper review of the film which gave it one star out of five. I think this was probably a little harsh, but it was certainly not one of the best Bond films ever made. Younger viewers might enjoy the action sequences and the up-to-date storyline, but I don’t think traditional Bond fans will be quite as enthusiastic about the film.
